Effect of Combination of Active Ingredients from Maqianzi (Semen Strychni) and Sumu (Lignum Sappan) on Inflammation and Vascular Endothelial Injury in Rat Model of Rheumatic Arthritis with Blood Stasis Syndrome

Abstract
Objective:To observe the effect of the combination of active ingredients from Maqianzi (Semen Strychni) and Sumu(Lignum Sappan) on joint inflammation and vascular endothelial injury in the rat model of rheumatic arthritis(RA) of blood stasis syndrome. Methods:According to the general condition of the rats,toe swelling degree,enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) results,the effect of the combination of active ingredients from Semen Strychni and Lignum Sappan on joint inflammation and vascular endothelial injury was evaluated. Results:The combination of the active ingredients could improve the general condition of the rat model and significantly reduce the toe swelling degree,inhibit inflammation,relieve endothelial injury,re-duce the serum level of inflammatory factors such as TNF-α,IL-1α,VEGF,COX-2,IL-1β,IL-6,IL-17,IL-15, VCAM-1,ICAM-1. Besides,the pathological changes of articular cartilage damage can be reversed,and the degeneration of articular cartilage can be delayed. Conclusion:The combination of the active ingredients from Semen Strychni and Lignum Sappan can effectively inhabit inflammation and vascular endothelia injury ,pro-tect joint cartilage to delay the degeneration of the knee-joint cartilage in the RA rat model of blood stasis syndrome.关键词
