Protective Effect and Safety of Mouse Nerve Growth Factor on Optic Nerve in Patients with Primary Angle Clo-sure Glaucoma after Trabeculectomy

Abstract
Objective To investigate protective effect and safety of mouse nerve growth factor on optic nerve in patients with primary angle closure glaucoma after trabeculectomy. Methods Clinical data of 86 patients with primary angle closure glaucoma undergoing selective trabeculectomy during January 2015 and June 2017 was retrospectively ana-lyzed, and the patients were divided into observation group and control group ( n=43 for each group) according to differ-ent treatment methods. All patients underwent trabeculectomy, and then observation group was treated with mouse nerve growth factor, while control group was treated with Mecobalamin. The best visual acuity, intraocular pressure, visual fields, P100 wave amplitude and latency, endothelin-1 (ET-1) and nitric oxide (NO) levels were compared before and after operation and after treatment for 1 month between the two groups. Results Visual acuity after treatment for 1 month was better than that before treatment in observation group (P<0. 05). After operation and after treatment for 1 month, mean sensitivity ( MS) , P100 amplitude and blood NO levels were significantly higher than those before treatment in two groups, and the levels after treatment for 1 month were significantly higher than those after operation (P<0. 05), and the levels in observation group were higher than those in control group (P<0. 05, P<0. 01). In observation group, mean deletion ( MD) , P100 latency and blood ET-1 levels after operation and after treatment for 1 month were significantly low-er than those before operation, and the levels in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group (P<0. 05 , P<0. 01). No serious adverse reaction was found in two groups. Conclusion Mouse nerve growth factor may effectively promote recovery of neurological function with safety after trabeculectomy in patients with primary angle closure glaucoma, and its protective effect may be related to inhibition of ET-1 levels and elevation of NO levels.关键词
