Effect of Weaning Age on Blood Antioxidant Activity in Wuzhishan Piglets
摘要
Abstract
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effect of weaning age on antioxidant activity in Wuzhishan piglets.A total of 96 piglets at 1 day old with an average body weight of 0.56±0.07kg were randomly assigned to 4 treatments with 4 replicates per treatment and 6 pigs per replicate.Piglets were weaned at 21,28,35 and 42 days old respectively.The experiment was carried out from 21days to 56 days old,and serum glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px),catalase (CAT),superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA)were determined at 28,35,42,49 and 56 days old,respectively.The results showed as follows:the variation range of GSH-Px,CAT and MDA was larger and recovery time was longer in 21d weaned group than other groups.Compared with the 21d weaned groups,the GSH-Px and CAT activities in 35d and 42d weaned groups were significantly increased,and MDA content was decreased at the age of 28 to 35 days old (P＜0.05).The GSH-Px and CAT activities were not significantly different among the treatments after 49 days old (P＞0.05),and MDA content were not significantly different after 56 days old (P＞0.05).It is suggested that weaning age significantly affect the antioxidant capacity of piglets,and early weaning can decrease antioxidant capacity in piglets,and the earlier weaning age,the longer the recovery time of antioxidant capacity.关键词
