Abstract

An epidemiological investigation of mastitis was carried out in a dairy farm,located in Gansu,to provide the theoretic base for effectively controlling and preventing bovine mastitis.The incidence of clinical and sub-clinical mastitis in the dairy farm was investigated,and 125 milk samples from cows with clinical mastitis were collected and the strains in samples were cultured,separated and identified.Then,the main pathogens were used for drug sensitive test,and the serotype of Streptococcus agalactiae was also identified in this study.The results showed that the incidence rate of clinical mastitis was 9.68%,and 18%were sub-clinical mastitis.128 strains were isolated from milk samples with a high isolation rate (93.6%),including E.coli (n=41,32.03%),S.agalactiae (n=25,19.53%),Enterobacter(n=14,10.94%),and Streptococcus dysgalactiae(n=2,1.56%).Serotype test indicated that 18 strains were I a-type(72.0%),and 7 strains were Ⅱ-type(28.0%).Antibiotic resistance rate revealed that the major pathogens of mastitis were resistant to Clindamycin,Vancomycin and Rifampicin,and the resistance rate was 50%to 100%.However,they were very sensitive to Gentamicin and Ciprofloxacin.This study is significant for the control of bovine mastitis.
