Abstract
Objective To report therapeutic outcomes of vestibular rehabilitation in patients with central vertigo.Methods Eighty patients diagnosed with central vertigo were randomly divided into a control and a study group with 40 in each group.Patients in the control group received conventional drug treatments,while those in the study group were treated with vestibular rehabilitation in addition to conventional drug treatments.The Berg Balance Scale (BBS) was used to evaluate the balance function,and the timed up and go test(TUG)was used to evaluate the walking function.Therapeutic outcomes were compared between the two groups after 4 weeks via BBS and TUG scores.Results The BBS score in both groups increased following the treatment,with the score in the experimental group noticeably higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).In the meantime,TUG time in both groups decreased after the treatment,but more so in the study group than the control group(P<0.05).The therapeutic outcomes favored the experimental group (P<0.05).Conclusion Vestibular rehabilitation training can accelerate recovery in patients with central vertigo,and com-bining drug therapy with vestibular training can significantly improve clinical outcomes in these patients,facilitating bal-ance and walking ability.关键词
