Abstract

The solubility of magnesium chloride hexahydrate in ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol, glycerol, n-butanol,isobutanol were determined by equilibrium methods at 293.15~338.15 K.The results show that the solubility of magnesium chloride hexahydrate in six alcohol solvents increases with the increase of temperature, and its solubility in glycerol and ethanol is higher than in four other solvents. The Apelblat equation, λh equation, ideal solution equation and empirical equation were used to correlate the experimental data, and the results indicate that the solubility data can be well correlated by these four models. The Apelblat equation provides the best fitting results. The experimental data and the correlation models provide important basis for the application of magnesium chloride hexahydrate in non-aqueous systems.
