Stochastic Responses Surface Method for Reliability Under Incomplete Probability Information

Abstract
A stochastic response surface method for reliability analysis under incomplete probability information is proposed. The joint probability distribution model is constructed based on the copula theory.The collocation points corresponding to different data dependences are mapped from the standard random space to the original random space by the Rosenblatt transformation. Finally, the proposed method is validated in a tunnel excavation example and a slope reliability example,respectively. The failure probability is investigated when the dependence between random variables are non-Gaussian, and how the dependence can impact the reliability result is revealed. When the dependence is assumed Gaussian using a normal copula,the result based on the proposed method is consistent with that based on the Nataf transformation. However, when other copulas are used to characterize the non-Gaussian dependence structure,the failure probability can be significantly biased compared to the Gaussian case, which indicates that the dependence can influence reliability significantly. Further investigation shows that the dependence structure influences the surrogate model and reliability result by changing the position of the collocation points in the original random space after space transformation.关键词
