Abstract

The influence of bolt joint characteristics,such as the number and pretightening force of the bolts,on the bending stiffness of high pressure rotor joint structures of aero-engines is studied.Firstly,the refined finite element model of bolt joints is established,and the bending stiffness of the joint interface is simulated by ANSYS software with different bolt numbers and different pretightening force considered.Then,the curve fitting is done for the simulation results in MATLAB. The results show that the relationship between bending stiffness and deformation can be expressed in a double exponential form in which the coefficients of the equation can be determined by the number of the bolts and the pretightening force. Meanwhile,the concept of equivalent stiffness coefficient of the joint interface is put forward in order to simulate the bolt assembly technique of the high pressure rotors. Finally, the simulation results are verified by the experiment, and the deformation vs.stiffness curve obtained in the experiment is found to be consistent with the simulation result.The double exponential relation between the bending stiffness and the deformation and the concept of equivalent stiffness coefficient proposed in this study are beneficial to aero-engine design and the evaluation of the stiffness characteristics of the bolt joint surfaces.
