Fault Diagnosis of Weak Misalignment of Rotors Based on Spectral Kurtosis and VMD

Abstract
It is difficult to extract the fault features of weak misalignment of rotors under noise interference. In this paper, a rotor fault diagnosis method is proposed based on Spectral Kurtosis and variational mode decomposition(VMD). Firstly,Spectral Kurtosis is used to filter out the signal background noise to enhance the fault characteristic correlation signal components.Then,the VMD is used to decompose the signal into a series of IMFs(Intrinsic Mode Function).Finally,the frequency spectrums of the IMFs are calculated to extract the fault feature of the rotor.The proposed method is applied to misalignment data processing of the rotors. The results show that the proposed diagnosis method can extract the fault features of the weak misalignments of rotors effectively and accurately, and is superior to the diagnosis method based on Spectral Kurtosis and empirical mode decomposition(EMD)only.关键词
