Abstract
The effect of subcritical quenching and conventional isothermal quenching on the microstructure and properties of nodular cast iron cylinder liner was studied.The results show that the microstructure of nodular cast iron consists of the lower bainite,copper-rich residual austenite,ferrite and a small amount of carbide with niobium,which hardness is greater than or equal to 300 HB after quenching;While the microstructure of nodular cast iron consists of the lower bainite,copper-rich residual austenite and a small amount carbide with niobium,which hardness was greater than or equal to 350 HB after conventional isothermal quenching.Compared to the cylinder liner with the conventional isothermal quenching,for the cylinder liner with subcritical quenching,the tensile strength and hardness decrease,the elastic modulus,coefficient of linear expansion and thermal conductivity are basically unchanged,the elongation increases.The friction coefficient of both decreases with the speed increases,but that of subcritical quenching is smaller than that one with conventional isothermal quenching at a constant load and lubrication condition.The processing performance of subcritical quenching cylinder liner is significantly improved,and the number of cylinder liners processed is more than 5 times as those with the conventional isothermal quenching under the same conditions.关键词
