摘要

Abstract

Fast pace of urbanization and vehicle-—oriented urban development in China have led to serious spatial conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles.With the improvement of socioeconomic condition and transformation of ideas about life,people are becoming more focused on health lifestyle and high-quality urban environment nowadays.The construction of urban subway transportation system brings a good opportunity to create walkable urban public open spaces.Taking Maluan Bay South Bank Area in Xiamen as an examples,this article explores how to create walkable urban public spaces in the TOD context from the perspectives of connectivity,safety,convenience and cultural characters.
