Active Clamp Circuit Applying to Absorbing Voltage Spikes in Single-Stage Full-Bridge PFC Converter

Abstract
Due to the leakage inductance of the transformer, voltage spikes exist across the bridge arm in single-stage full-bridge PFC converter. It seriously affects the normal operation of the converter. To solve this problem, the forming mechanism of voltage spikes across bridge arm and the principle of active clamp circuit absorbing voltage spikes are analyzed. Accordingly, the forming mechanism of drain-source voltage spikes of clamp switch is analyzed, and the method that upper switches of bridge arms are operating in ZVS mode is hence proposed. Regarding the voltage spikes across bridge arm cannot be absorbed during input current zero crossing stage, the method of keeping clamp switch off is this stage is proposed. To avoid the inrush current of clamp switch during input current zero crossing, an improved active clamp circuit is proposed. The analysis and the proposed methods are verified by the simulation and experimental results.关键词
