Research on the Influence of the Position Detection Error to the PMSM Drive System

Abstract
The detection accuracy of the rotor position angle is essential for the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) control system. Due to the quality of the mechanical sensor, mechanical tolerances and armature reaction, the mechanical position sensor-based methods will always have a relative certain rotor position detection error. Sensorless rotor position estimation accuracy is affected by sensorless observer methods, detection accuracy of current sensor, current harmonic component, inverter nonlinearity, and the parameter variation and asymmetry. Its position estimation error is relative uncertain. The paper focuses on the influence of position errors on the PMSM control system. The mathematical model of the PMSM is established based on the rotor position error. Its impacts on steady state performance are analyzed, such as the current and voltage limit, operating efficiency of the motor, current magnitude, copper loss, stable operation region, and dynamic response capability of the electromagnetic torque. Quantitative and qualitative conclusions have been validated by the experiments.关键词
