摘要

Abstract

It is crucial to design the suitable cooling system applied in electric machine for EVs. The heat dissipation has a great influence on the reliable operation of the motor in EVs. In the paper, the spiral channel cooling system is studied with three different dimension ratios (b/a=1,2,3) of inlet surface in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. Given the same area of inlet airflow, fluent parameters are compared in CFD, such as velocity, heat transfer coefficient and pump power, etc. The dimensional parameters are used for further thermal analysis of the completed machine by FEM coupling simulation. Finally, the images on the shell thermal distribution are recorded by infrared instrumentation, measurement results are determined by PT100 embedded in winding end. Experimental validation is presented in the paper, which could provide some reference for the research of cooling approach applied in motor for EVs.
