摘要

Abstract

Adjustment of polarization plane is a necessary basic function of antenna on shipborne satellite communication (satcom) earth station to track linear polarization satellite.When the shipborne satcom earth station goes across the equator,the polarization plane in traditional design will rotate backward 180°,which will cause communication interrupt.By analyzing the equipment working status and position features near the equator,this paper proposes an improved design to solve the problem above from two aspects,enlarging mechanical rotation range of polarization plane and optimizing polarization control program,which takes advantage of the axial symmetry features of waveguide in antenna feed and delays the reversing time of polarization plane when going across the equator effectively.Theoretical calculation and practical application test imply that the reversing time of polarization plane can be delayed more than 6.8 hours when going across the equator along the common route of a ship.The improved design can solve the communication interrupt problem effectively when ship borne satcom earth station goes across the equator.
