Dynamic wavelength and bandwidth allocation algorithm for wavelength-agile passive optical networks

Abstract
In this paper, the issue of dynamic wavelength and bandwidth allocation (DWBA) in wavelength-agile passive optical networks (WA-PON) is investigated. An improved dynamic wavelength and bandwidth allocation (IDWBA) algorithm is proposed. According to the bandwidth requirement of an optical network unit (ONU), IDWBA flexibly assigns appropriate number of wavelength channel to it, which is beneficial to reduce the bandwidth waste caused by the bandwidth guard and the overhead of control frame. The simulation results show that the IDWBA algorithm can further reduce the average delay and packet loss ratio compared with the existing algorithms.关键词
