Abstract
Multimodal container transport is the key "bottleneck" of modern Chinese logistics.Promoted by "the Belt and Road" strategic plan of the Chinese government, there will be a surge of container transportation demand from the coast to inland China. Multimodal container transportation is a special delivery mode which links maritime and railway transport, connects road and railway transportation, and bridges the gap between domestic and international transportation. It also carries the advantages of modern logistics to achieve containerized, standardization, intelligent and shared freight management, help reduce the overall social logistic cost and improve the efficiency of supply chain. In this paper, the authors suggest to establish a container-based railway transportation system, to reform the operation, organization, resource allocation, network planning components in the system, and to enlarge the multimodal container transportation volume, strengthen the advantage of railway supply chain, upgrade technical equipment, etc. In a nutshell, a comprehensive multimodal container transportation system should be built to connect ports, wharfs, airports, center station and international stations. The proposed system should be able to improve the service level, increase market share, and provide a fast, green, efficient, and safe channel from the coast to inland China.关键词
