Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical effect of the automatic vestibular function diagnosis and therapy system (SRM-IV) combined with vitamin D in the treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). Methods A total of 317 primary BPPV patients were randomly divided into groups of SRM-IV + vitamin D (n = 83), SRM-IV + placebo (n = 77), repositioning maneuver + vitamin D (n = 80), and repositioning maneuver + placebo (n = 77). The follow-up period was 6 months. The evaluation of therapeutic results included recovery, effective therapy, and useless therapy. Results The evaluation of therapeutic results of the four groups had no statistical difference (P > 0.05), but there were differences in the recurrence of BPPV (P < 0.05). There was decreased recurrence of BPPV in SRM-IV treatment group than that in repositioning maneuver group (P < 0.05). Although there was tendency that supplemental vitamin D can decrease recurrence of BPPV, there were no statistical differences (P > 0.05). Conclusion SRM-IV has a definite curative effect on BPPV, which can reduce the frequency of vertigo recurrence and increase patient compliance. Our results provide an underlying theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of BPPV.关键词
