Abstract

Objective To study the effects of ultra-small platinum nanoparticles on the proliferation of human lung cancer A549 cells. Methods Platinum 2, 4-pentanedionate was used as raw material, oleic acid and oleamide were used as solvent, and ultra small platinum nanoparticles (USPtNs) were prepared by heat-up method. The particle size distribution and Zeta potential were measured by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and its morphology was determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). A549 lung cancer cells were selected for cytotoxic evaluation. It was divided into USPtNs group and cisplatin group, and detected by MTT to determine the toxic effects of USPtNs and cisplatin. Results The micro diameter of the USPtNs produced in this experiment was (3±1.2) nm. TEM image showed that the cells in USPtNs group were with better dispersion in a circular or elliptical shape. Moreover, the cells in USPtNs group showed more significant cy-totoxic effects. Conclusion Platinum 2, 4-pentanedionate is used as raw material for the preparation of USPtNs, its particle size distribution is uniform, and there is a strong killing effect on the A549 cells.
