Effects of osteoporosis on skeletal muscle mass and sarcopenia

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effects of osteoporosis on skeletal muscle mass and sarcopenia,and to provide reference for the diagnosis,prevention and treatment of sarcopenia.Methods:806 Han adults (males 295,females 511) were selected as the subjects of the study in Jinzhou.The skeletal muscle mass was measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis method.The bone strength was measured by ultrasonic bone density tester.All the data were analyzed by SPSS20.0.Results:With the decline of bone condition,the skeletal muscle mass decreased;the incidence of sarcopenia increased from 3.2％ of the normal group to 12.5％ of the osteoporosis group.In case of the same bone mass,the incidence of sarcopenia of males (5.7％,6.6％,15.4％) was higher than that of females (1.8％,4.7％,10.9％).Osteoporosis was a risk factor of sarcopenia.Conclusion:Bone mass has a certain impact on muscle mass.In general,osteoporosis is a risk factor of sarcopenia.关键词
