Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of general irrigation and ultrasonic irrigation in single-visit root canal treatment for fistula type chronic apical periodontitis. Methods 80 patients with fistula type chronic apical periodontitis (92 teeth) scheduled for single-visit root canal treatment in our clinic from November 2010 to September 2016 were divided into the control group (40 cases, 47 teeth) and the observation group (40 cases, 45 teeth) according to the random number table method. The control group was treated with general irrigation, while the observation group was treated with ultrasonic irrigation. The pain of diseased teeth andclinical efficacy of the two groups were compared and analyzed. Results The incidence of pain of diseased teeth after root filling in the observation group received ultrasonic irrigation was 27.5％, lower than 57.5％ in the control group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group after treatment was 97.5％, higher than 67.5％ of the control group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusions The application of ultrasonic irrigation in single-visit root canal treatment for fistula type chronic apical periodontitis can effectively improve the effect of clinical treatment, completely eliminate the blind spots in the root canal preparation, kill the root canal bacteria, reduce the damage to the periapical tissue, and reduce the postoperative pain.关键词
