Abstract

Objective:To investigate job burnout of science and technology professionals(STPs)and its relationship with social support.Methods:Totally 915 STPs in Anhui province were assessed with Maslach Burout Inventory General Survey(MBI-GS)and Xiao Shuiyuan Social Support Rating Scale,then using SPSS 17.0 program for data analysis.Results:①89.6 % STPs had the lowest level of job burnout,although STPs of different marital status/different age/ different education background/ differrent professional title and different monthly income did have significant differences in the level of job burnout(P<0.01).②)The total score of job burnout was negatively correlated with the total score of social support and sub-factor scores of social support(r =-0.303,-0.233,-0.223,-0.230;P<0.01).③Job burnout and marital status could predict 18.5% variation of social support(F=51.607,P<0.001);Job burnout and age could predict 15.6 % variation of social support(F =42.103,P <0.001);Job burnout and the title of atechnical post could predict 13.7% variation of social support(F =36.058,P<0.001).Conclusion:Social support is the significantly negative factor of job burnout in STPs.Social support can decrease job burnout level.
