The Relationship Between Family Socioeconomic Status and Gratitude Among Undergraduate Students:The Mediating Effect of Parental Style

Abstract
Objective:To explore the relationship between family socioeconomic status,parenting style and undergraduate students' gratitude.Methods:Structural equation model was used in analyzing the multiple mediating effects.A total of 353 college graduate students completed the Family Socioeconomic Status Questionnaire,Parental Bonding Instrument(PBI)and Gratitude Questionnaire-6 (GQ-6).Results:① Family socioeconomic status positively predicted gratitude(B=0.19,P <0.01);②Gratitude was positively correlated with parental warmth and parental autonomy(r =0.16 ~ 0.34,P < 0.01),and was correlated with parental indifference negatively (r =-0.24,P < 0.01).Gratitude didn't correlate with parental overprotection(P>0.05);③ Parental w armth had a mediating effect (0.074),counted for 38.5 % of the total effect on the relationship between family socioeconomic status and gratitude.Conclusion:Family socioeconomic status will promote the formation of undergraduate students' gratitude through increasing the care level in parents' rearing.关键词
