Abstract

In order to explore the quantitative standard for the rapid and non-destructive judgment of fresh tobacco leaf matu-rity, taking flue-cured tobacco variety"Yunyan 97"as test material,we used USB4000 spectrometer to measure the spectral re-flectance of fresh tobacco leaves with various maturities and from different parts of tobacco plants, established the standard for quantitative judgment of fresh tobacco leaf maturity, and studied the relationship of spectral reflectance with maturity of fresh to-bacco leaves and quality of flue-cured tobacco leaves. The results showed that there was a significantly positive correlation between spectral reflectance and maturity of fresh tobacco leaves, and spectral reflectance could sensitively distinguish the differ-ence in yellow-green area of fresh tobacco leaves among 10%-gradient samples. Combining with the various quality indexes of flue-cured tobacco leaves, we concluded that the spectral reflectance of fresh tobacco leaves with appropriate maturity from the bottom, middle part and top of tobacco plants was 33.50~45.00,59.21~71.21 and 61.65~76.71, respectively. Therefore, the spectral reflectance can be used as an index judging the maturity of tobacco leaves in field.
