Abstract

Using ZY-3 image data, airborne laser scanning data (ALS) and forest survey data, the spatial distribution of forest age of Zhonglin area in Mao'er Mountain was estimated. A linear model of tree height and age of coniferous mixed forest, broad-leaved mixed forest and coniferous-broad-leaved mixed forest was constructed based on detailed forest survey data (model accuracy was 85.1%, 91.2% and 80.3%, respectively). The type of forest was extracted by supervised classification of ZY-3 image data (total classification accuracy: 97.15%, Kappa coefficient: 0.91). The average tree height was extracted from airborne laser scanning data (extraction accuracy: 80.46%). The average height of the tree was divided into three forest types, the calculation was carried out in the corresponding model, the estimated value of the forest age was obtained, and the age group was divided. Within the study area, the stand age of the forest is mainly at 30~70 years, and the average age of forest is 51 years. The age group mainly consists of middle-aged, near-mature and mature forests. As a whole, age structure of forests in Mao'er Mountain is young.
