Structural Evolution and Electrochemical Properties of PAN Based Carbon Felt During Carbonization

Abstract
In order to obtain the optimum carbonization temperature of anode electrode materials for all vanadium redox battery, fourschemes were proposed to obtain a polyacrylonitrile based carbon felt via two-stage carbonization. The structural evolution andelectrochemical properties were investigated. The rapid expansion of fiber graphite network at the first stage of carbonization occurs at800-1000 ℃. The results show that a greater carbonization temperature at the first stage of carbonization gives a higher graphitizationdegree of polyacrylonitrile based carbon felt after the second stage of carbonization, especially at the first stage of carbonizationtemperature range from 1200 to 1400 ℃. The electrochemical activity of the polyacrylonitrile based carbon felt obtained in the two-stagecarbonization at 1200-1800 ℃ is the maximum, which is suitable to be used as anode electrode materials for all vanadium redox battery.关键词
