摘要

Abstract

This paper reviews Mars exploration missions,and the techniques and products of Mars mapping using remote sensing data.Since 1960,humanity has conducted 44 Mars exploration missions,among which 1 8 missions are successful and,3 are partially successful.Based on orbital images and laser altimetry data,lander and rover images,series of photogrammetric techniques have been developed,and global mapping products with 100 m level resolution,high resolution maps of local regions with meter to sub-meter level resolution have been produced,which greatly supported scientific investigations and mission operations.Future research directions of Mars mapping are also discussed,including multi-source multi-coverage global mapping,improvement of Mars global control network,automated massive data processing and information mining,real-time long-range Mars rover localization and mapping, data sharing and international cooperation,etc.
