Horizontal Competition,Corporate Governance and Investment Efficiency
摘要
Abstract
Horizontal competition is always an important impediment to the development of Chinese capital markets.Based on the main board of A-share listed firms in Chinese stock market from 2007 to 2010,this paper empirically tests how the horizontal competition would affect the investment efficiency of listed companies. The results show that the firms' investment efficiency with horizontal competition is lower than that without horizontal competition.After distinguishing over-investment and under-investment,it is found that the horizontal competition is significantly positive with both over-investment and under-investment.Furthermore,the participation of institutional investors can decrease the efficiency loss caused by the horizontal competition.关键词
