摘要

Abstract

Jute is a kind of natural plant fiber with high yield,low cost and biodegradation.In this paper,the properties and composition of jute are described.The research progress of jute as an adsorbent for removal of heavy metals and organic pollutants was reviewed.The adsorption mechanism of jute for removal of pollutants in water using active groups of hydroxyl,carboxyl,ether,ester and aromatic in jute or inductive chelating groups (such as carboxyl,amino,etc.) from chemical graft modification of jute was also summarized.It was suggested that jute could be potent adsorption materials for water treatment,but there are still some problems need to be solved in applications.
