Reviews on Skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis) Fishery in the West-central Pacific Ocean
摘要
Abstract
In order to thoroughly review the study of skipjack fisheries in this area,we searched in the web of science database literature retrieval with the "skipjack" and "Pacific" as key words,and reviewed the skipjack tuna in different aspects.The results showed that a total of 104 references were recorded about the research of skipjack fisheries west-central Pacific Ocean,some of them focused on the biology,including age and growth,sex maturity and feeding habitat;some studies focused on the fishing ground forecasting,including the relationship between fishing ground and extreme climate,as well as the relationship with the oceanographic environments in different layers;the searched references also contained the studies about the fishery stock assessments,which mainly conducted by the WCPFC.In conclusion,we reviewed the different aspects of skipjack tuna in west-central Pacific Ocean,from skipjack fisheries catch status,skipjack biology research,marine environmental elements research of skipjack tuna fishing ground and the stock starus and assessment of skipjack.Solving the existing problems would be research direction for future study.The following aspects will be the research focus in the future:to conduct the manufacturing-fishing-marketing services for the development of skipjack fishery;to deduct the possible migration route to ensure the sustainable utilization of skipjack;to accurately forecast the fishing ground with high resolution data in order to improve the CPUE standardization with different methods,and assess the skipjack stocks with better results.关键词
