Effect of Training based on Nursing-mini-CEX for Non-diabetic Specialist Nurses

Abstract
Objective To study the effect of the training based on Nursing-mini-Clinical Evaluation Exercise (Nursing-mini-CEX) for non-diabetic specialist nurses. Method A total of 139 non-diabetic specialist nurses were selected as the research subjects. The control group involved 71 nurses from January to December 2015 and the observation group 68 from January to December 2016. Classroom lectures, specialized skill training and clinical practice were all conducted in both groups but mentoring teaching method was adopted in the control group while the teaching based on Nursing-mini-CEX in the observation group. At the end of the training, the score of comprehensive assessment from diabetic nurse specialists,patients score of the diabetes attitude scale (3rd version) after the discharge and HbA1c level of patients 3 months after the discharge in the 2 groups were compared. Results The score of communication skills, professional knowledge, education strategy, patients' acceptance of health education, whether language accounted for more than 30% of the education, with reasonable education plan or not, the overall effect of health education, whether the education time ranged from 15 to 20min and the total scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). The overall score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group in terms of the severity of diabetes, the psychological impact of diabetes, the value of strictly controlling of blood sugar, the autonomy of patients and the attitude toward diabetes mellitus (P<0.05). HbA1c level of patients in the observation group was better than that of the control group 3 months after the discharge (P<0.05). Conclusion The teaching based on Nursing-mini-CEX can help to improve the health education ability of non-diabetic specialist nurses,improve patients'attitude toward diabetes and their HbA1c level.关键词
