Abstract

A fracturing fluid thickener(CTMA),was prepared by using aqueous solution copolymerization with acrylamide(AM),N-methylolacrylamide(NMA)and hydrophobic cationic(CT1) as monomer and potassium persulfate and sodium sulfite as initiator. The structure of CTMA was characterized by FTIR and its dissolving ability,thickening ability,water insoluble matter content,residue quantity, suspended sand performance and shearing and temperature resistance were evaluated. Characterization results indicated that the polymerization took place among the monomers and the structure of synthesized CTMA coincided with the target structure. The results showed that the optimal reaction temperature was 33 ℃;the dosage of initiator was 0.2%(w) of total mass of monomers;the ratio of monomers was m(AM):m(NMA):m(CT1)=100:0.1:0.05;the optimal volume ratio of polymer solution to crosslinker was 2%(φ) and when the pH value of gelling is 3 the crosslinked gel can achieve the best hanging ability. CTMA has good dissolving and thickening ability and is low in water insoluble matter content and residue quantity. The formed fracturing fluid has stable suspended sand performance and excellent shearing and temperature resistance.
