Optimizing the Adsorption of Three Aromatic Methane Dye Based Response Surface Methodology by Flax Fiber

Abstract

Agricultural wastes of flax as raw material were chemically modified with citric acid solution, and used for adsorption three aromatic methane dye (malachite green and methyl violet). The effect factors of modification and adsorption conditions on the adsorption capacity were explored. The Orthogonal experiment and Response Surface Methodology was used to optimize the experiment. The research results showed that the optimal adsorption capacity for Methyl Violet and Malachite Green solution under citric acid concentration 0.3 mol/L, modified temperament 25℃ and time 90 min, adsorbent dosage 0.1 g, initial dye concentration 100 mg/L and adsorption time 120 min, and under citric acid concentration 0.5 mol/L, modified temperament 100℃ and time 120 min, adsorbent dosage 0.1 g, initial dye concentration 100 mg/L and adsorption time 120 min, respectively. The process was consistent with Freundichd isothermalmodel and quasi-second-order dynamic equation. The values of Orthogonal experiment and RSM optimal combination were nearly agree with predicted values, which verified that the experiment could be used to optimize processes.
