Abstract

Research on forward modeling and inversion algorithms for frequency domain CSEM with topography is receiving much attention. While the 2-D codes of them that are commonly used do not consider topography. In this paper,the integral equation method is used in forward modeling and the multiple-frequency contrast source is adopted in inversion,then both are incorporated into development of a fast solver for CSEM with topography.By using a layered medium reference model and integrating the topography and the targeted object into one calculation domain,it is possible to realize the aim afore-mentioned. The FFT algorithm is also used to accelerate the computation caused by expansion of the calculated domain. Numerical examples demonstrate that the fast forward and inverse solvers for 2-D CSEM with topography presented in this paper are feasible and effective.
