Influence of Surface Modification of Flame Retardant on Performance of Flame Retardant Asphalt

Abstract
In order to improve the compatibility of flame retardant and asphalt, flame retardant was surface modified and then used to prepare flame retardant asphalt.The limiting oxygen index, softening point,dynamic shear rheometer(DSR),ductility,and standard test method for separation were carried out to study the flame-retardancy property,high temperature haracteristics,low temperature performance and storage stability of flame retardant asphalt and the adding amount of flame retardant was determined. TG test and scanning electron microscopy were applied to analyze the surface modification mechanism of flame retardant and fame-retardant mechanism of flame retardant asphalt.The test results show that flame-retardancy property and high temperature performance of asphalt with flame retardant could be significantly improved,which has little influence on the low temperature performance and storage stability of flame retardant asphalt when the content of flame retardant is not more than 8%.Flame retardant is useful for promoting carbonization of asphalt and the gas volatiles when burning are reduced.Surface modification increases the dispersibility of flame retardant and thermal stability of flame retardant asphalt and the flame-retardancy property and low temperature performance of flame retardant asphalt are improved.关键词
