Effect of Water-Binder Ratio on Properties and Pore Structure of Concrete

Abstract
The compressive strength,chloride ion flux and stomatal structure,stomatal parameters in the microstructure of concrete in different water-binder ratio were compared and the effects of water-binder ratio on the macroscopic properties and microstructure of concrete were studied in the experiment.Results show:excessive amount of free water can produce capillary pores within the concrete, so increasing water-binder ratio is equivalent to increasing the number of pores, which can significantly reduce the compressive strength of concrete,but the larger water-binder ratio can enhance the local cement hydration reaction.For chloride ion flux,with the larger water-binder ratio,the capillary pores will be more,which can increase the number of connected pores and chloride ion flux will be increase.With the decrease of water-binder ratio,the developmental trend of pore distribution is toward to the direction of the smaller aperture.In addition,the relational grade between compressive strength and pore size of small pore and porosity is larger and the relational grade between chloride ion flux and spacing coefficient is larger, it shows that pore content and porosity can be used to characterize the compressive strength of concrete,and the pore space coefficient can also be used to characterize the durability of concrete.关键词
