Abstract

Objective:To explore optimized scan on CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) on patients with lung cancer by reducing the tube voltage and tube current.Methods:Sixty of suspected pulmonary embolism patients with lung cancer were randomly divided into three groups.The patient underwent CT pulmonary angiography in 3 scanning protocols with different tube voltage and tube current,experimental group 1 (120 KV 、200 mAs),experimental group 2 (120 KV、100 mAs),experimental group 3 (80 KV、200 mAs).X-ray quantity of X,the number of photons was said by product of tube current mA and irradiation time s,mAs.A subjective scoring system for image quality,image noise and image sharpness was conducted by 2 radiologists independently.The measured values(pulmonary artery CT value and noise) as well as the calculated values[signal-to-noise(SNR) and contrast-to-noise (CNR)] were compared between among 3 protocols.Results:There was no significant differences in subjective scores of the image quality,image noise and image sharpness(P was 0.158,0.123,0.256,respectively,were > 0.05),all of the scores were three points or more.There was significant differences in CT value and noise of pulmonary artery in all protocols (P < 0.05),the CT value and noise of pulmonary artery experimental group 3 were the largest,the CT value of pulmonary artery in experimental group 2 was minimum.The SNR and CNR of pulmonary artery experimental group 2 and 3 were reduced,there was no significant differences in SNR and CNR between experimental group 2 and 3.The radiation doses of all protocols(372.73-±29.76、200.33 ± 16.90、127.59 ± 15.70) mGy.cm,experimental group 2 and 3 were reduced,the radiation dose of experimental group 3 was minimum.Conclusion:Compared with reducing tube current,reducing tube voltage could obviously increase pulmonary artery enhanced value and sharply reduce radiation dose,although the noise increased,but the image quality of CTPA could meet the diagnostic requirements.Experimental group 3 (80 KV 、200 mAs) could be used optimized scan on CTPA.
