Effect of extended nursing care on prevention of pressure injury in bedridden elderly

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of extended nursing care on the prevention of pressure injury in the bedridden elderly.Methods A total of 120 long-term bedridden elderly persons in Beicai Community Health Service Center were chosen from December 2015 to December 2016.They were randomly and equally divided into the intervention group and control group according to the random number table method.In the control group,the caregivers were given centralized health education,and the intervention group was given comprehensive extended nursing management program.The pressure injury rate,cognitive competence and nursing ability of the caregivers,satisfaction of the patients and caregivers on health services were compared between the two groups.Results The incidence of pressure injury was significantly lower in the intervention group than that in the control group 6 months later (P ＜ 0.05).The caregivers in the intervention group had better prevention knowledge of pressure injury and nursing ability than those in the control group (P ＜ 0.01).The overall satisfaction rate of patients and caregivers was 96.4％.Conclusion Comprehensive extended nursing management program can greatly reduce the incidence of pressure injuries,improve the cognitive competence and nursing ability of caregivers,and improve the quality of life and satisfaction of patients and caregivers.关键词
