Comparison of ProTaper and Mtwo nickel?titanium instrument in the root canal therapy of mandibular second molar

Abstract
Objective:To compare the clinical efficacy of ProTaper and Mtwo nickel-titanium rotary instruments in the root canal therapy of mandibular second molars.Methods:A total of 100 cases of mandibular second molars were divided into group P and group M randomly.Each group included 50 teeth and all teeth included three root canals.Group P and group M underwent one-time root canal filling after completing root canal preparation by using ProTaper and Mtwo nickel-titanium instrument,respectively.The root canal preparation time,complication,rate of postoperative pain and canal obturation quality were compared between the two groups.Results:The time of root canal preparation in group M was significantly less than in group P.There were no transportation,ledge and perforation in both groups.However,the incidence of instrument separation in group P was lower than in group M.There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups about the rate of postoperative pain and canal obturation quality.Conclusion:Both of ProTaper and Mtwo nickel-titanium rotary instruments have good clinical effects of root canal therapy for mandibular second molars.Mtwo can improve efficiency and ProTaper can reduce the incidence of instrument separation.关键词
