The assessment on success rates of retrieval separated instruments from the apical part of root canals

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the impact factors affect removing separated instruments from the apical part of root canals.Methods:A total of 81 separated instruments in 77 root canals were treated with DOM(dental operating micro-scope).The success rates were calculated and the cases were reviewed in 1 year after treatment.The impacts on success rates were statistically analyzed by straight pathway,canal curvature and depth of separated instruments.Results:Forty-six separa-ted instruments in 42 root canals were removed with a success rate of 56.2%(46/81).By statistical analysis,straight path-way,canal curvature and depth of separated instruments have significant effects on the success rates.Furthermore,the correla-tion analysis was performed to find out that straight pathway is the key factor on success rates.Conclusion:The straight path-way is the decisive factor on success rate of retrieval separated instruments from the apical part of root canals.关键词
