Abstract

Alcohols、ester、aldehydes、ketones and organic acid are flammable liquid with a larger polarity.When the traditional foam extinguishing agent being applied on polar solvent,bubble could burst quickly due to water separated out of the bubbles.Polar liquid fires are becoming more frequent with the development of petroleum and chemical industry.However,the polar liquid fire is not easy to be controlled by the traditional foam extinguishing agents due to the fact that the polar liquid is volatile,flammable and explosive.Although there exist the alcohol-resistance foam extinguishing agents,the current agents don't have good properties such as alcohol-resistance,burn-resistance and short foam time,which requires a lot of foams to finish the extinguishing work.Hence,it is quite significant to develop a novel alcohol-resistance foam extinguishing agent.The extinguishing efficiency of alcohol-resistance foam extinguishing agent mainly depends on the composition of the alcohol-resistance and forming component.In this paper,the alcohol-resistance properties of five water-soluble polymers and their combinations,and the foaming properties of three kinds of foaming agents were studied.The foam liquids developed in the laboratory were compared with the commercial alcohol-resistance foam extinguishing agent.The results show that,the gel film formed by Xanthan gum has the best performance,and its alcohol-resistance properties can be improved and reached the best by combination with nonionic polyacrylamide.The optimum mass fractions of Xanthan gum and nonionic polyacrylamide are 1.5% and 0.5% respectively.Among the three foaming agents,APG0814 has the best foaming properties with the optimum mass fraction of 20%,which shows good alcohol-resistance properties,foaming stability and foaming life.The maximum foaming volume is 440 mL and the residual foaming volume is 400 mL after 15 min.
