Wnt signaling pathway mediates the dental pulp stem cells in multipotential differentiation and inflammatory microenvironment

Abstract
Human dental pulp stem cell (hDPSC) and stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED) are human mesenchymal stem cells demonstrating multipotential differentiation capabilities. The Wnt signaling pathway consists of canonical Wnt/β-catenin and noncanonical Wnt signal pathways, which are activated during tooth morphogenesis. These pathways also play key roles in the dental pulp repair process. During inflammation, an activated Wnt signal pathway plays a significant role in the process involved in the repair of a damaged tooth. This pathway also participates in hDPSC proliferation and odontoblastic differentiation. In non-inflammatory conditions, hDPSC and SHED differentiate into osteoblasts and odontoblasts, respectively, which suppress adipogenic differentiation through the Wnt signaling pathway.关键词
