Abstract
Objective To analyze the clinical results of unilateral percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP) for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures(OVCFs).Methods Unilateral PKP was applied to treat 126 patients (148 vertebrae) who suffered from OVCFs. The VAS,Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA), Hamilton depression scale (HAMD),the anterior height and middle height of the vertebra and the Cobb′s angle for kyphosis were recorded. Bone cement leakage and adjacent vertebral refractures were observed under the X-ray. Results All patients were followed up for 8~26(14.4 ± 2.8)months. Statistically significant improvements were found between the preopera-tive and postoperative assessments and between the preoperative and last follow-up assessments in the VAS,HAMA, HAMD,the anterior and middle height of the vertebra and the Cobb′s angle(P< 0.05). The incidence rate of ce-ment leakage was 7.14%(9/126) postoperatively, the incidence rate of adjacent vertebral refractures was 3.97% (5/126).Conclusions The unilateral PKP for the treatment of OVCFs can have a promising result in relieving the pain and the anxiety and depression state,restoring the height of vertebra and correcting kyphotic deformity, with a lower incidence rate of complications.关键词
