Abstract
Objective To translate of the Work Addiction Scale for Nurses into Chinese and test its reliability and validity in Chinese nurses. Methods We translated the Workplace Addiction Scale into Chinese. After back-translation and cross-culturally adjustment, a Chinese Version of Workplace Addiction Scale for Nurses was developed. After the investigation with the scale in nurses, we conducted exploratory factor analysis, obtained the preliminary structure of the scale, and then tested the reliability and validity. Results The Chinese version of the Work Addiction Scale did not show consistent structural validity with that in other countries. The scale developed consisted of 5 dimensions including restraint, concentration, work, achievement and self-focus and 22 items. The Cronbach α coefficients of the total scale and the 5 dimensions were 0.832, 0.856, 0.861, 0.856, 0.816 and 0.722, respectively. Exploratory factor analysis extracted five factors with characteristic root>1, and the cumulative contribution rate of 5 factors was 56.781%. Confirmatory factor analysis showed x2/df, GFI, CFI, RMSEA, IFI, AGFI and other indicators were better fitted. Conclusion With 5-factor structure in Chinese nurses, the Chinese Version of Workplace Addiction Scale for Nurses has good reliability and validity and it is an effective tool to measure the level of addiction in Chinese nurses.关键词
