Abstract
Objective To explorer the effect of peer education on self-management and complication of cancer patients with PICC. Methods A total of 110 cancer patients with PICC were selected by convenient sampling, and divided into control group and observation group according to the end of hospital number, there were 58 cases with even numbers in the observation group and 52 cases with odd numbers in the control group. Patients in control group received conventional discharge education, while those in observation group additional peer education. PICC self-management ability and complications were observed and compared between the 2 groups. Results The scores of each dimension of PICC self-management scale 3 months after catheterization in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),including daily catheter maintenance, maintenance compliance, catheter management confidence, exception handling, information acquisition, tube exercise, and daily life management. the complication rate in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Peer education is effective for improving the ability of self-management of patients with PICC, and reducing the incidence of complications and it is worthy of clinical application.关键词
