Abstract

In order to understand water environmental quality status of Karst Area,Zhangjiang River in Libo County is taken as the study case,and then the quality of the water environment of Zhangjiang River is comprehensively assessed and analyzed with Projection Pursuit Clustering (PPC) and Fuzzy Comprehensive Assessment.Through establishing projection pursuit clustering model and taking DO,potassium permanganate index,BOD5,COD,NH3-N,TN,TP indexes as the multi-dimensional projection parameters for searching the optimal projection direction,the projection value of water environmental pollution is obtained by projection objective function for reflecting the content characteristics of the water environment indexes,thus the pollution status of the water environment within the study area is acquired and compared with that from the assessment result of fuzzy comprehensive assessment method.The result shows that (1) in the projection direction,the impacts from TP and TN on the water environmental quality of Zhangjiang River are the largest,while the impacts from DO and COD are the smallest;(2) so far as the mean projection values of all the river-sections are concerned,0.946 4 is for Xibuhe River Section,1.295 3 is for Huilongjiao Section and 1.545 4 is for Jiepai Section,while the water quality pollution degrees of all the river sections are Jiepai > Huilongjiao > Xibuhe River;(3) in accordance with PPC water environment assessment criteria,the comprehensive projection value of the water environmental quality of Zhangjiang River is 1.262 4 and belongs to the water quality of Class II,thus meets the relevant water environment function zoning requirement;(4) according to the fuzzy comprehensive assessment method,the water quality of Xibuhe River Section is Class I,the water quality of Huilongjiao Section is Class IV and the water quality of Jiepai Section is Class V,while the comprehensive water quality of Zhangjiang River is Class IV with a larger difference from the water environment function zoning requirement.The study result is helpful for the scientific management of the water environment within karst area,moreover,the study method can provide a new idea for the assessment on water environment quality as well.
