Abstract
In order to improve the safety of pouch-type lithium ion batteries,the model analysis and failure mechanism of short circuit as well as the experimental assessment with commercial lithium batteries were carried out.The instantaneous current was estimated by measuring the direct current resistance of the cell and calculating the tabs resistance.Both the theoretical analysis and experimental results indicate that the external resistance and temperature are the main factors influencing the short circuit failure.Based on the failure analysis,lowering the tab resistance and enhancing the sealing strength could effectively improve the safety of pouch-type lithium batteries.关键词
