Size Effect of Flexural Properties of Engineered Cementitious Composite

Abstract
The flexural strength and flexural toughness for the engineered cementitious composite(ECC) samples with various sizes were tested,respectively,in order to investigate the size effect of the flexural properties of ECC,and the experimental data were analyzed based on the theory of statistics.The results indicate that the flexural strength and the equivalent flexural toughness index of PVA-ECC have significant size effects,and the size effect on the equivalent flexural toughness index is more significant than that on the flexural strength at the same age.Additionally,with curing age increasing,the degree of size effect for the ultimate flexural strength and the equivalent flexural toughness index of PVA-ECC with same size will increase.Furthermore,it can be found from the results of Ryan-Joiner normal test that the ultimate flexural strength and the equivalent flexural toughness index of PVA-ECC obey normal distribution,and the variation coefficients of them rise with the increase of specimen size, these imply that the ultimate flexural strength and the equivalent flexural toughness index of PVA-ECC are in accord with the Weibull size effect statistical theory.关键词
