Expression and clinical significance of discoidin domain receptor 1 protein in ovarian cancer tissues

Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of discoidin domain receptor 1(DDR1) protein in human ovarian tissues.Methods The expressions of DDR1 protein were detected by immunohistochemical method in 33 normal ovarian tissues,43 benign ovarian tumor tissues and 94 ovarian cancer tissues.The positive expression rates of DDR1 protein were compared among ovarian cancer patients with different clinicopathological features.The relation of the positive expression of DDR1 protein with the prognosis of ovarian cancer patients was analyzed.Results The positive expression rate of DDR1 protein in ovarian cancer tissues was higher than those in the other tissues(all P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between benign ovarian tumor tissues and normal ovarian tissues(P>0.05).The positive expression rates of DDR1 protein were higher in the patients with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO) stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ,poor differentiation and peritoneal metastasis than the rates in the patients with FIGO stageⅠ-Ⅱ, moderate/well differentiation and without peritoneal metastasis respectively(all P <0.05).The positive expression of DDR1 protein and peritoneal metastasis were the risk factors for death in the ovarian cancer patients(all P<0.05).Conclusion DDR1 protein is overexpressed in ovarian cancer tissues,probably participates in the occurrence,progression and distal metastasis of ovarian cancer,and may be taken as an important factor for evaluating the prognosis of ovarian cancer patients.关键词
