摘要

Abstract

To study the effect of cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine(RDX)particle size on the performance of modified single-base gun propellant,the modified single-base gun propellants containing RDX with different particle size(0.5, 7.6,100 μm)were prepared via a extrusion molding process by solvent method.The combustion performance of these modified single-base gun propellants was studied by closed bomb experiment.The mechanical properties of the modified single-base gun propellants were tested by the universal testing machine and charpy impact testing ma-chine.And the fracture mechanism of modified single-base gun propellants was analyzed by means of scanning elec-tron microscopy image of the impact fractured surfaces.The results show that when the mass fraction of RDX is 10%,the burning rate of the modified single-base gun propellant increases with increasing the particle size of RDX. The combustion of modified single-base gun propellants with small particle size RDX(0.5 and 7.6 μm)is stable. When the particle size of RDX increases to 100 μm,the u-p curve of modified single-base gun propellant appears a turning point at about 60 M Pa and the burning rate pressure exponent changes abrupt,the combustion of propellant is unstable.The compressive strength and impact strength decrease with increasing the particle size of RDX.The particle size of RDX has significant influence on the fracture mechanism of modified single-base gun propellants. When the particle size of RDX is small,the impact strength of modified single-base gun propellants is mainly deter-mined by the interface bond strength between RDX particles and NC matrix.When the particle size of RDX increa-ses,the impact strength is determined by the self-strength of the RDX particles and the interface bond strength be-tw een RDX particles and NC matrix.
